On one fateful night many centuries
ago, a Gnoll chief witnessed a fiery object fall from the sky and crash into
the ground. He approached the crash site and found strange metallic disc, the
size of a human head, pulsing with an eerie glow.

Tales of Aesomeness #8
Battle
at the Plateau

| Leezzzzzdooooddiizzzzz!! |
After the burning of Tonoroa, the
Hortons wandered aimlessly through the jungle. During their travel, they
encountered a messenger sent by the Tonoroan chief telling them that the
Tonoroans will attack the Lizardfolk and their masters at the ruins on the
Central Plateau of the Isle. The Hortons were asked to aid them and attack from
one side of the ruined fort. Being the selfless blokes that they are, the Hortons
agreed.
As our heroes ventured towards
the Central Plateau, they discovered ruined structures where they discovered
that they are supposed to face a race called the Kopru, evil creatures capable
of mind control.

The Hortons eventually reached
the Lizardfolk stronghold. With the help
of the Tonoroan attack at the other side of this place, our heroes successfully
penetrated the enemy base. Whatever joy they felt for the successful entry was
short lived as they come face to face with the same dragon that almost killed
them all a few weeks back.
The explosion at the village of
Tonoroa greatly weakened the dragon and the Hortons emerged victorious. It is
here that they find that the still living dragon was merely enslaved by the
Kopru and that these monsters are holding the remaining shards they need.
The Hortons quickly descended to
the lower depths of the of fortress ruins, fighting through monsters and
escaping traps until they reached their main foes.

The ensuing battle was intense. The
Kopru was guarded by a mighty golem and the Kopru even controlled one of the Hortons.
But through grit and determination, the Hortons pushed through and the groups
Dragonborn Paladin delivered the fatal blow.
The victory caused obvious cheer to the Hortons
and as is custom, they each had a shot of liquor from their cleric’s personal
stash. Little did they know that their dwarven cleric Pakito Bloodbeard mixed a
potent potion with his wine which resulted in the Hortons being paralyzed.
Pakito took their most important loot, disfigured their Leader’s face and
stabbed their wizard in the gut before stepping through the portal. The betrayal
is now complete.
